KACo Leadership Institute
The KACo Leadership Institute provides professional and practical education and training for county officials. These cost-effective trainings are offered at regional sites throughout the state. The annual curriculum, designed to meet the needs of county officials, was selected based on member feedback.
This year's in-person classes have been suspended until further notice due to COVID-19.
All courses have been approved for HB 810 credit. The planning and zoning course has been approved for HB 55 requirements. Continuing Legal Education credit for attorneys attending the planning and zoning course has been requested.

An evaluation of two different claims (one liability and one workers comp) to explain and understand the cost/benefit analysis that drives the decision of when to settle versus when to take a case to trial. In addition, join KACo’s Safety & Loss Control specialists to discuss the purpose, development and structure of safety/claim review committees.

Local ethics code ordinances provide our communities the assurance that their local governments are being operated in a principled, appropriate and lawful manner. This class will provide an overview and history of state statutes governing local ethics codes. In addition, you will learn about the process to amend your local ethics code and the penalties for failure to comply. We will review various ethics code policies from across the Commonwealth.
